• Trans Alliance Network (TAN) — Terms of Service

    1) Who We Are

Trans Alliance Network ("TAN," "we," "us," or "our") is a verified, member‑led community for trans, non‑binary, and gender‑diverse people and allied organizations. Our purpose is to help members connect, receive support, learn, grow, and thrive.

    2) Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, joining the community, or using TAN websites, apps, events, programs, or services (collectively, the "Services"), you agree to these Terms of Service (the "Terms") and all policies referenced here (the "Policies"). If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

    3) Eligibility & Verification

    • TAN is a verified space. You agree to complete any reasonable verification steps we request to protect member safety and the integrity of the community.
    • Individual membership is for people who identify as trans, non‑binary, or gender‑diverse (and respectful allies where explicitly allowed).
    • Organizational membership is for trans‑owned or trans‑led organizations and requires that each liaison have an individual member account. We may request proof of leadership/ownership as part of verification.
    • You represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms and meet the minimum age required by law in your location to use online community services. If local law requires parental/guardian consent, you represent you have obtained it.

    4) Accounts, Security & Notifications

    • You are responsible for your account, credentials, and all activity under your account. Promptly notify TAN of any unauthorized use.
    • Keep your profile accurate and up to date.
    • We may send transactional emails or in‑app notices about your account, safety issues, or changes to the Services.

    5) Community Standards (Code of Conduct)

TAN is a kindness‑first community. By using the Services, you agree to:

    • Treat all members with respect and dignity. No harassment, bullying, hate speech, or targeted abuse.
    • Honor stated boundaries and content warnings.
    • Avoid misinformation and keep discussions constructive.
    • Keep private information private. Do not dox, stalk, or solicit sensitive personal data.
    • Follow channel rules, event guidelines, and moderator instructions.

Safety & Moderation. TAN uses trained moderators and a documented incident‑response process. We may warn, restrict features, temporarily suspend, or remove accounts to protect member safety. We strive to respond promptly to reports and escalate serious incidents, but we do not guarantee response times.

    6) Your Content & License to TAN

You retain ownership of content you post (text, images, audio/video, links, and other material) ("Member Content"). You grant TAN a worldwide, non‑exclusive, royalty‑free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute Member Content within the Services for the purposes of operating, improving, and promoting the community. You can delete your posts at any time; copies may persist in backups for a reasonable period. Where content involves other members, removal may be limited to protect their expression or safety.

You represent and warrant you have the rights to post your content and that it does not violate these Terms or others’ rights.

    7) TAN Content & Intellectual Property

The Services, including logos, brand elements, course materials, challenges, recordings, and other content created or provided by TAN ("TAN Content") are protected by intellectual‑property laws. Except as expressly permitted, you may not copy, modify, sell, or distribute TAN Content without written permission. Limited use: you may display TAN Content within the Services and for personal, non‑commercial purposes.

    8) Payments, Tiers & Renewals

TAN offers free and paid memberships. Pricing and features will be shown at checkout and on the membership page. Paid plans auto‑renew each billing cycle until cancelled. By subscribing, you authorize us (and our payment processor) to charge your payment method at the applicable rates, including any applicable taxes.

Trials, Discounts, Scholarships. From time to time, TAN may offer trials, discounts, or scholarships. Specific terms will be set forth in the offer and may change.

Cancellations & Refunds. You can cancel at any time, effective at the end of your current billing period. Unless required by law, fees are non‑refundable once the period begins. If we materially fail to deliver core features for a sustained period, contact Support, and we will review a fair remedy.

    9) Organizational Membership

Organizational accounts are available to trans‑owned or trans‑led entities that meet our verification standards. Each participating liaison must also maintain an individual account that complies with these Terms. Organizational members may be listed as community resources and may apply to sponsor specific programs, subject to TAN approval and additional guidelines. Misrepresentation of organizational status may result in suspension or removal without refund.

    10) Programs, Events & Recordings

TAN hosts webinars, trainings, challenges, office hours, and other activities. By participating, you agree to comply with the event rules and to respect the hosts and participants. To protect member privacy, recording by attendees may be limited or prohibited. TAN may record specific sessions for members to view later. Participation is voluntary. If you appear in a recording, you grant TAN permission to host and share the recording within the Services. We will not publish recordings publicly without additional notice.

    11) Privacy, Data & Consent

We practice data minimization and ask only for what we need to operate the Services. Core uses include account management, safety verification, analytics, payments, and communications you opt into. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data, subject to safety and legal retention requirements. A separate Privacy Notice describes our practices in more detail and forms part of these Terms.

    12) Third‑Party Services

The Services may link to or integrate with third‑party platforms (e.g., video, payments, calendar). Their terms and privacy policies govern your use of those services. TAN is not responsible for third‑party services.

    13) Prohibited Uses

    You agree not to:

    • Break the law or encourage others to do so.
    • Harass, threaten, or harm others; share sexual or violent content that violates our standards; or target minors.
    • Infringe intellectual property or privacy rights.
    • Attempt to gain unauthorized access, probe, or disrupt the Services.
    • Use bots or scraping except as permitted by our robots rules or written consent.
    • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation.

    14) Enforcement & Appeals

We may take action we reasonably believe necessary to protect members and the community, including content removal, feature restrictions, temporary suspensions, or permanent bans. When feasible, we will notify you of the reason and provide an appeals path. In urgent safety situations, actions may be immediate and without prior notice.

    15) Service Changes & Availability

We continuously improve the Services and may add, change, or remove features. We may suspend or stop portions of the Services without liability, including for maintenance, security, or legal reasons.

    16) Disclaimers

TAN is not a medical, legal, or crisis service. Information shared by members or guests is for peer support and education only. You are responsible for your decisions and actions. Our aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the greater of (a) amounts you paid to TAN in the 12 months before the claim or (b) USD $50.

    18) Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless TAN and our founders, advisors, moderators, and partners from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Services, your content, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

    19) DMCA / IP Complaints

If you believe content infringes your copyright or other intellectual‑property rights, please contact us with: (a) identification of the work; (b) the infringing material and its location; (c) your contact details; (d) a statement of good‑faith belief; and (e) a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and you are authorized to act. We may remove or disable access to allegedly infringing content and may terminate repeat infringers.

    20) Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of [insert governing jurisdiction], without regard to conflict‑of‑laws principles. All disputes will be resolved in the courts located in [insert venue] or via [insert arbitration rules, if any]. Consumers located in jurisdictions with mandatory local rights retain those rights.

    21) International Use

    22) Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email or in‑app notice. Updated Terms take effect when posted unless otherwise stated. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
